Our normal office hours are Monday-Friday, 9.30-18.00 - phone calls on Saturdays are mostly OK unless we're at a fair but please, we try to keep Sundays completely free from business. We do not have a fax machine.
Payment for fixed price items in GB pounds sterling is due on receipt of our invoice in cash, by cheque, by bank transfer, or by card (Visa Debit, Visa Credit, Mastercard, American Express) or through PayPal. Do not send card details by email but phone them through to us or wait for our PayPal invoice. You may be billed in US dollars or Euros, as you prefer, paying by personal cheque or bank transfer. The goods remain our property until paid for in full. Fixed price items may be returned, in the same condition, within 7 days (UK) or 30 days (overseas) for a refund.
Postage will be added to your invoice at cost, rather than per item (from £1.50 for low value items, £2.50 for recorded delivery or £7.50 minimum charge by special delivery, overseas £4.00 airmail your risk or from £8.95 depending on weight, insured). Items invoiced at over £30 airmail are usually sent by registered or insured mail. If you choose not to send by insured mail inland or overseas, then it is at your risk entirely. For overseas parcels over 2 kilos, we use best value, most secure service available, depending upon the destination.
Delivery times We aim to respond to your enquiry and process your order, once payment has been received, within 5 working days but it’s usually within 2 days. We will let you know by email when we’ve posted your package. Estimated delivery times: 1-2 days UK, 7-10 days Europe, 10-28 days rest of the world airmail.
These Conditions of Business and any amendment to them shall be governed by and interpreted and construed in accordance with English law.
POSTAL AUCTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
In addition to and differing from our general terms and conditions listed above:
Postal auction bids. Written or emailed bids must be received no later than 12 midday in UK on the advertised closing date, either by post or email. Please use the bid sheet in the catalogue or on the website. All telephone bids must be confirmed in writing. Email bids will be accepted but are only valid once we have sent an acknowledgement (in addition to the automatic copy sent to your email address). We bear no responsibility for emails not being received, nor for the late arrival of any bids. If bidding by email or phone, please quote the lot number and brief description with your maximum bid. The first price in the catalogue is the reserve; bids will be refused below this. The second price is an estimate but you may need to bid higher to secure a lot.
Bidding is in increments of £1. Bids will be reduced to 10% (rounded up to the nearest pound) above the next highest bid:
Example 1. Weight reserved at £30 has 3 bids A.£25, B.£50 C.£35. Bid B is successful at £39 and we ignore bid A which is less than the reserve.
Example 2. Medal reserved at £100, you bid is £200 but you’re the only bidder so you buy it for £100 (the reserve)
Prices realised are only sent to bidders.
Where two or more identical bids are received, the first one received wins.
There is no buyer's commission!
So bid high and bid early for success
Prices realised are sent after the sale to bidders and available for download from www.simmonsgallery.co.uk
