Folding pan & plate balance with no label, the base of the box lined with red velvet.  Beam is steel CT stamped near the fulcrum, hangers are key-hole shape. 5 knobbed weights, the weight compartments parallel to the scale. Wide Mahogany box  130x38mm. Made about 1800

Folding pan & plate balance with no label, Beam is brass with straight hangers. No weight compartment, Mahogany box   130x23 mm. Made about 1786 possibly by A Wilkinson.  Normal (fat & round) Guinea & half Guinea coin weights could fit under the round pan. See Crawforth figure 27

Containing scale with steel beam with box terminals and brass flat pans. Two nested Troy weight sets  - 16 oz- ¼ oz (smaller weight missing the other similar but not a matching set)  Box 360x180x75mm .

Corporation of Maidstone Standard Scale and Box. Large (400mm.) scale with steel beam with box terminals marked CLASS 1  To Weigh 7 lbs. The pans are linked with chains and are marked CORPORATION OF MAIDSTONE  1823  L the other DUTTON & SMITH  BORO  R both pans with verification marks crowned VR 1 (City of London) and 1892 over Portcullis (Westminster) In a fitted light colour wooden box  416x301x100mm. The front edge carved CORPORATION OF MAIDSTONE. There is an empty compartment with a hinged lid. The box is lockable but key missing

There is a lidded compartment for cylindrical weights – but no weights (we think 1kg  down) . Almost certainly a mid 19th century Standard Scale Box   411x23x100mm .
