Simmons Gallery Corrections and addenda MB48 Tokens Postal Auction 21 October 2009 printed catalogue.

We always make mistakes and typos; if you spot any others, let us know!  Ditto, missing links on photos.  Thank you to all our eagle-eyed fellow numismatists.

Lot 18 is listed as both Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire; listed under Herts. in Norweb (2231)

Lot 40 is W118

lot 52 Now attributed to Sutton Valence (Kent) in Norweb iii.2757/2 from find evidence. We were working with the Dickinson catalogue.

According to Robert Thompson: John Burkhuest is attributed to Sutton Valence (kent) from find evidence, and a 1669 marriage licence to John Buckhurst of Sutton Valence, gent. In addition, John Buckhurst appears with 4 hearths in the Borough of Sutton Valence in 1664 (Kent Hearth Tax Assessment, Lady Day 1664, ed. Duncan Harrington, London, British Record Society, 2000, p.102).

lot 55 Liskeard we think the symbol is a rose W27 not the Mercer's Arms W26 but the condition isn't great to say the least. However Mike Dickenson says "the dies are as Norweb 546 which is W26, although on yours (this example) the device does look more like a rose. I think it very likely that W27 does not exist."

lot 57: W86 Not Cornwall but Huntingdonshire St Ives

Lot 75 Now attributed to Warwickshire (Norweb 6423 - Mike Dickinson)

lots 106 & 107 - typo in printed catalogue - Plymouth

Lot 140 Comment from Mike Dickinson " the rosette intrigued me. I'm sure it's 1662 not 1652"

Lot 142 - an eagle-eyed collector has pointed out to us a faint R under the date, making this W17 not W16

Lot 214 Williamson number correct, issuers' names wrong - corrected online to Samuel Wilson & John White

Lot 253 Comment from Mike Dickinson "my listing was from this piece. It's the only example known to me"

lot 288 Fran Field

lot 408 I is upper case

lot 492 Alce Lant

Lot 524 Mike Dickinson comments: probably ex Spink Auction 16, 10 July 1981, lot 893 (not illustrated) which fetched £40

Lot 568 W251

Lot 740 Extra biographical information related to Gordon-Cumming: "His collection of hunting trophies was exhibited in London in 1851 at the Great Exhibition, and was illustrated by a lecture delivered by Gordon-Cumming. Lot 765: New Inn - new token not in Cox but similar to Cox 286, Cambria Coffee Token, with an even more flowery 3d

Lot 769 is Cox 813

Lot 974 Communion token: B4194 not B4191 (typo)
