(Switzerland) Conservatoire de Musique de Geneve a splendid silver prize medal from the mid 19th century, unnamed, by Bovy, 53mm GBP 35

Antonin Dvorak a plaster medal, framed, no signature but looks contemporary with the artist and in style reminiscent of Hartig (Austria). 41mm plaster, frame 130mm, Very attractive, GBP 25

Beniamino Gigli, 1890-1957 Bel Canto operatic tenor, a large cast bronze medal by F Tommaso 1970 (50 years after his first appearance at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York);, with the spiral reverse. His stamina was legendary and he gave many benefit concerts for charity, sometimes known as the Second Caruso. The patina on this medal is rather odd, the casting rough sandcast, but nevertheless, a rare and beautiful large portrait. 97mm. GBP 50

Charles Gounod 1818-1893 by Andre Lavrillier, struck medal 1943 from the Monnaie de Paris; reverse the flying horse from Philemon & Baucis, one of Gounod's works. The names of other operas are also mentioned. 68mm. bronze GBP 45
George Frederick Handel Centenary Commemoration Crystal Palace 1859. As usual named on the edge to Performer Miss Gypson 51mm bronze, spot on the reverse as photo but otherwise good very fine GBP 30
J-B Lully 1632-1685 (French composer at the court of Louis XIV) by Ponce (1966, Monnaie de Paris) reverse is a quotation "Quelle gloire! il la doit a son rare genie Mais pouvoit il moins faire? Il chantait pour Louis" What celebrity! - he owes it to his rare genius. But could it be otherwise? He sings for Louis. The radiant symbol on the reverse refers to the Sun King, Louis XIV. Pewter, limited edition of 250. Condition nVF but a strong portrait and scarce GBP 45
Luigi Marchesi , by Guillemard. Portrait on the Milan School of Music prize medal of the Italian operatic castrato singer, born Milan 1754, died 1829. He achieved national hero status by refusing to sing for Napoleon when the latter entered Milan. The condition of the medal is only fine but an interesting story! 43mm bronze Forrer ii. 343 Not nice but unususal GBP 50
