The silver version of this medal struck by the Royal Mint was not available for purchase during 2003. See The Medal magazine no.42, Spring 2003, pp 83-91 for Philip Attwood's article on the commissioning of the medal through competition, and for the inspiration and genesis of the design of the Maine medal, and its relationship to the British Museum's building, its continuing work and ethos. ***The proceeds go to the British Museum for future medal projects.***
