TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE

General terms: All items are guaranteed genuine as described. A list of the exhibition is included on the web site, together with most items illustrated for sale. Items loaned from the Worshipful Company of Cutlers are featured separately and are not for sale. They are included to show the scope of medallic art in this area.

Postage: will be added to orders at cost and goods sent by registered insured mail where possible (minimum £3.75), unless bidder chooses not to insure, or by recorded mail if under £30 inland. Where no international registered delivery exists, (e.g. USA and Canada) goods are sent international airmail Swiftair, or by parcel post, but at the buyer's risk for the first £50 value.

Payment: Payment is due on receipt of our invoice in cash, or by cheque, and goods are sent out when we receive payment. Payments from abroad should be in pounds sterling drawn on a UK bank. Please indicate if you want to be invoiced in US dollars or euros. We accept credit cards (Visa, Eurocard, Amex and Mastercard) and Switch debit cards for payment. If you wish to pay by this method please provide your card details (card number, expiry date, issue number (Switch only), and name and address as written on your card and statements), and sign the authorisation. We also accept PayPal.

Photographs: All medals have (or should have) an image. Email us if you need a larger image.

Grading & other abbreviations:
In general we have not graded these items in the conventional method used for coins and medals. The condition is as you would expect for a presentation piece and imperfections and damage are noted in the description.

AV (aurum) gold, AR (argentum) silver, AE (aes) bronze or copper,
gilt - a thin covering of gold over either silver or base metal.
Pb lead, Fe Iron, Al Aluminium WM White metal (a form of Pewter)

References: In short there is no reference work that covers most of this material. However a few medals are listed in British Historical Medals by Laurence Brown (BHM) and there are several articles in The Medal magazine referring to Guild medals and badges, and medals of the City of London.
We have also found useful WC Hazlitt: The Livery Companies of the City of London (1892) as well as other general reference works e.g. Who's Who, DNB etc.

If in doubt, please ask.
