We've organised the London Coin Fair for over 30 years but in December 2009 ownership was transferred to Mike & Lu Veissid. The Veissids are experienced fair organisers, running the popular Midland Coin Fair. The London Coin Fair will continue in the same format at the same venue. A dedicated website will be created in the new year but in the meantime, as usual, you can find the information you need here and contact details for the new organisers are below. We wish Mike and Lu every success and hope that you will support them in the same way that you have supported us over the years. Thank you to all our visitors and exhibitors for the fun we've had organising this event, which is an integral part of the numismatic calendar.

We moved to the Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury in Coram Street, London WC1 in 2001 and it's now also known as The HOLIDAY INN fair or the LONDON fair by the trade and collectors.. It's bright, modern, with good facilities for access and decent lighting. Light meals and refreshments are available in the hotel cafe bar and in Callaghans Irish Bar, with a wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby in the Brunswick Centre, on Southampton Row and Marchmont Street.
The fair is held in the Academy Conference suite of the Holiday Inn (follow the signs left from the foyer to the bourse reception) and is on two floors, with all sorts of exhibitors mixed together. Do remember to visit all the dealers and take a programme and plan from reception when registering! In 2010 there will be the usual eclectic mix of dealers, from international traders to solo specialists in coins, medals, paper money, tokens and weights. There is also a good showing of antiquities (pre-1700) to embellish your coin collection.
Our fairs average between 65 -75 dealers. In order to see all of them do give yourself plenty of time. It is hectic first thing in the morning but lunchtime is a little quieter for dealing!

Background
The London Coin Fair is the largest collector fair of its type in the UK. Fairs have been organised since the 1960's and Simmons have been responsible for them since 1982. In the very early days only 30 dealers exhibited and used it as a central London showcase. Now it provides a London meeting place for provincial and foreign dealers, as well as the big London firms and the specialist one-man businesses. There is now on average between 65-75 dealers at each show. The range of material is vast, from pocket money coins in 'junk boxes' to the highest rarities in the British numismatic series. Coins ancient and modern, British and foreign, plus tokens, commemorative medals, some war medals, banknotes, tokens, books and accessories for the hobby are all to be found at the fair. Because many ancient coin dealers also deal in artefacts, we also allow exhibitors to show some antiquities - pre-1700, mainly metal such as brooches and buckles, but including classic Greek and Roman ceramic pots and lamps. Jewellery is restricted to coin jewellery only.
Useful information
The hotel has full catering facilities including 2 bars and a restaurant. However, there are lots of good food outlets and pubs nearby, principally in the Brunswick Centre next door, in Marchmont Street and Lambs Conduit Street.
We're often asked whether dealers will accept credit cards - in general they don't take credit cards at the show although they may have the facility on their own premises or online. There are a number of cashpoints and bureau de change in the locality (Brunswick Centre and near Russell Square tube station).
Exhibiting at the London Coin Fair
Exhibitors are full or part-time professionals in the coin business. Most exhibitors are from the UK with a few from USA and Canada, and the EU. If you would like to exhibit please write with your full name and address, trading speciality if any, and phone numbers, and we will forward booking details. The normal address is: London Coin Fair, Hobsley House, Frodesley, Shrewsbury, SY5 7 LD. Exhibitors who are not known to us personally are asked to provide at least two trade references from within the coin trade. A waiting list is in operation when bookings are oversubscribed.
